Alcohol can destroy your life, the lives of people around you, and the vitality of your chapter. One night of not following the rules can result in an accidental death and a law suit involving many stake holders. Come watch a short film (20 minutes) and a have a discussion about how you can protect yourself and your chapter. This film was produced by the FIJI national office.

The Student Centers’ Blue Hen Leadership Program (BHLP) is designed to offer students an array of opportunities to further develop their leadership skills, enhance relationships with the University community, further knowledge about organization management, and explore local and global culture.

The program consists of  lectures, workshops, service projects, conferences/summits, and select educational experiences in which to participate.  The pilot programs will be categorized into one of the following areas: Service and Action Learning, Cultural Understanding and the Arts, and Organization Management and Leadership.

All BHLP approved programs are marketed and open to the entire undergraduate population, with a special emphasis on promotion to student group members.  Students have the choice to attend any programs they feel will enhance their University experience.

If a student attends at least eight of the programs across at least two of the three categories then the student is eligible to receive the Blue Hen Leadership Program Scholarship. In addition to the program participation, the scholarship applicant must also complete an application which includes an essay on leadership. A $1000 BHLP Scholarship will be awarded to the selected candidate and a $500 “runner-up” scholarship will also be awarded.

In order to be eligible for the scholarship, you must:

1. Be a full time undergraduate student.
2. Register online for the BHLP at:  www.udel.edu/bluehenleadership/register/
3. Have attended at least 8 programs in at least 2 of the categories.
4.  Fill out the application online at: www.udel.edu/bluehenleadership/application/

A Message from an Alumni

My name is Steven Gold with United Way of Delaware and 2009 Delaware Alumnus. I would like to invite you and your RSO to an event called the Delaware Weekend of Service on October 23-25 (also called Delaware Faith in Action Weekend of Service, but you do not need to be religiously affiliated). We would greatly appreciate if your group would participate in this unique event. They may designate their own project, or volunteer to serve for a project with another organization.  It is our goal to use this weekend of service as the catalyst for ongoing community service initiatives geared toward improving the quality of life for of all Delawareans. If you are interested, I would be happy to provide you with further information.  Please feel free to email me at sgold@uwde.org or call my direct office line at 302-573-3754
