Did you know?!?!?

Hello Registered Student Organizations!

Please allow me to introduce myself! My name is Rebecca Krylow and I am the Complex Coordinator for the Independence South Complex with the Office of Residence Life. Independence South includes Independence, James Smith, and Thomas McKean Halls. These suite-style residence halls are home to approximately 1,100 vibrant upper-division students, four Hall Directors and 30 Resident Assistants. My staff and I would like to extend an invitation to begin creating collaborative partnerships.  Together, we are all dedicated to student engagement and my staff and I believe that our students would greatly benefit from the products of our combined efforts.  Residence Life staff is always planning events and initiatives for our students and we’d love if you could join us in creating those programs!

For example, every month each Resident Assistant will be developing and implementing a program or initiative as part of his/her “Community Development Series”. Depending on what has been happening within the community that month staff members will plan accordingly. Some examples of issues staff members might address are-recognizing healthy relationships, getting involved on campus, preparing for graduate school etc. In addition to the “Community Development Series” we also have “Let’s Go!” programs and “Brunch Bingo”. “Let’s Go!” occurs every weekend when staff invite students to campus events. For example, the CBC Step Show, SCPAB movie series, athletic events etc. are all potential “Let’s Go!” events.  Finally, “Brunch Bingo” occurs on the first Sunday of each month and students are invited to come down to one of our lounges to eat pancakes and play Bingo. This event could be a great opportunity for you to join our staff as “hosts”. If possible, we would also love to bring to life any other program ideas you might have.

You may or may not be familiar with the common space in our residence halls. It is quite expansive! However, in addition to the space that we offer, here are some addition benefits for your organization:

·         Students have the opportunity to learn more about your organization, you gain increased exposure
·         Partial financial assistance (will be negotiated)
·         Expansive lounge space with public access

I hope that what I’ve shared sounds beneficial! If your organization is interested in working with us, or if you have any questions please contact me via phone or email. You are also welcome to contact any of my Hall Directors directly; you will find their contact information below.
